Hatch Hacks – October Festivities

by | Oct 14, 2020

Many might say the October marks the height of Fall. Pumpkin patches and apple orchards are ripe for picking and cafes have hit their pumpkin spice strides. To most, it’s the leaves and colors that make this month so elegant. October has much to offer and we are here to inform you on a few of the festivities the FM area has to offer this Fall.

Pumpkin picking is a staple for October. Heading to the pumpkin patch with your friends, family, or significant other to find the perfect pumpkin for your home’s décor. Your kids will love to pick their favorite pumpkin and being them home to carve and paint. A couple of patches in the area that draw most attention is the Lil’ Bitz Pumpkin Patch (North of the airport) and the Buffalo River Pumpkin Patch, located in Glyndon, MN just outside of Moorhead, MN.

Boo! Love a good scare? Get some friends, find a haunted house nearby and go nuts. Other spooky options include going on a ghost tour, visiting an old cemetery, or touring an historic building at night. Two of the more popular choices in the area include Acres of Terror, located in Leonard, ND, which includes a “spooky” bus ride and then as well as the Haunted Farm that is located in South Moorhead, MN.

If you are one who just enjoys the leaves changing and the colder fall breeze, then take this time to go on hikes through parks that are surrounded by trees or go for bike rides down trails that offer the elegance that October has to offer.
